Species: Zoanthus spp.
Coral Type: Soft Coral / Colonial Polyp
Mandarin Orange Zoanthids are a vibrant and highly eye-catching zoanthid variety known for their intense citrus coloration and rapid spreading growth. Each polyp typically features a glowing mandarin-orange center, often accented by yellow to gold rings and contrasting darker skirts that enhance the overall depth and definition of the colony. Their bright, warm tones create a strong visual pop in reef aquariums, especially when colonies form dense mats across live rock. Under actinic or blue-spectrum lighting, their fluorescent pigments intensify, producing a radiant orange glow that stands out dramatically in mixed reef displays.
Coral Type: Soft Coral / Zoanthid
Lighting: Moderate lighting requirements (approximately 75–150 PAR)
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate; gentle, indirect water movement supports healthy polyp extension and helps prevent debris from settling on the colony
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic through symbiotic zooxanthellae; occasional feedings of fine particulate coral foods such as Reef Roids or Benereef may encourage faster growth and enhanced coloration
Aggression: Peaceful to Semi-Aggressive; generally reef-safe, though colonies can spread quickly and may overgrow nearby corals if not managed
Placement: Best placed on isolated rock structures or reef islands where colonies can expand freely under stable lighting and flow conditions
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
