Jason Fox Fruity Pebbles Montipora
Species: Montipora spp.
Coral Type: Moderate SPS
Fruity Pebbles Montipora is a visually captivating small polyp stony coral known for its multi-hued coloration, often combining shades of green, pink, orange, and purple that create a vibrant “sprinkled” appearance. This species typically grows as encrusting plates or small, undulating ridges with tightly packed polyps that give the surface a slightly bumpy texture. Its polyps extend modestly during the day, while the colony spreads steadily across rockwork, making it an excellent choice for adding a colorful focal point to SPS-dedicated reef aquariums. Under actinic or blue reef lighting, the coral’s fluorescent pigments intensify, enhancing its rainbow-like appeal.
Coral Type: Moderate SPS
Lighting: Moderate to High lighting requirements (approximately 150–250 PAR)
Flow Rate: Moderate to High, with indirect turbulence to promote polyp extension and prevent detritus buildup
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae; occasional target feeding with fine coral foods such as ReefRoids or Benereef can enhance growth and coloration
Aggression: Low toward neighboring corals, but provide space to prevent shading or overgrowth
Substrate: Best placed on stable rockwork or reef structures where it can encrust and expand naturally
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health.
