Jason Fox Frankies Hot Pink Rim Montipora
Species: Montipora spp.
Coral Type: Moderate SPS
Frankie’s Hot Pink Rim Montipora is a visually striking small polyp stony coral known for its vibrant green or teal base color accented by a vivid hot pink rim around the edges of its encrusting plates or ridges. The coral forms tightly packed polyps on a textured skeleton, giving a slightly bumpy, living appearance. Its growth pattern allows it to encrust rock surfaces or frag plugs steadily while maintaining clean, sharp color contrasts. Under actinic or blue-spectrum lighting, the fluorescent pink edges glow intensely, creating a dramatic, eye-catching display in SPS reef aquariums.
Coral Type: Moderate SPS
Lighting: Moderate to High lighting requirements (approximately 150–250 PAR)
Flow Rate: Moderate to High; indirect turbulence supports polyp extension and prevents detritus buildup
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic through symbiotic zooxanthellae; occasional target feeding with fine coral foods such as ReefRoids or Benereef can enhance coloration and growth
Aggression: Low toward neighboring corals, but provide space to prevent shading or overgrowth
Substrate: Best placed on stable rockwork or frag racks where the colony can encrust and expand naturally
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
