Jason Fox Autumn Harvest Psammocora
Species: Psammocora spp.
Coral Type: Moderate SPS
Autumn Harvest Psammocora is a small polyp stony coral prized for its striking autumn-inspired coloration, typically featuring shades of orange, gold, and reddish-brown across its encrusting or low-mounding plates. Its tightly packed corallites give the surface a textured, honeycomb-like appearance, while polyps extend slightly to catch light and nutrients. The coral grows steadily over rock surfaces, creating colorful patches that resemble falling autumn leaves. Under actinic or blue-spectrum lighting, its pigments fluoresce softly, adding a warm, glowing accent to SPS reef aquariums.
Coral Type: Moderate SPS
Lighting: Moderate to High lighting requirements (approximately 150–250 PAR)
Flow Rate: Moderate to High, with indirect turbulence to prevent detritus buildup and promote polyp extension
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae; occasional target feeding with fine coral foods such as ReefRoids or Benereef can enhance growth and coloration
Aggression: Low toward neighboring corals, but allow space to prevent shading or competition
Substrate: Best placed on stable rockwork or reef structures where it can encrust and expand naturally
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health.
