Species: Zoanthus spp.
Coral Type: Soft Coral / Colonial Polyp
Golden Eye Zoanthids are a bright, high-impact zoanthid variety known for their bold contrast and glowing center coloration. Each polyp typically features a radiant golden-yellow to amber center that resembles a “pupil,” surrounded by concentric rings of green, orange, or bronze tones with darker skirts that sharpen the overall eye-like pattern. The strong contrast and warm coloration make them especially eye-catching in reef aquariums, where they form dense, spreading mats that add movement and vibrant color across rockwork. Under actinic or blue-spectrum lighting, their golden centers fluoresce intensely, creating a striking, glowing focal point.
Coral Type: Soft Coral / Zoanthid
Lighting: Moderate lighting requirements (approximately 75–150 PAR)
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate; gentle, indirect water movement promotes healthy polyp extension and helps prevent detritus buildup
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic through symbiotic zooxanthellae; occasional feedings of fine particulate coral foods such as Reef Roids or Benereef may support enhanced growth and coloration
Aggression: Peaceful to Semi-Aggressive; generally reef-safe, though colonies can spread quickly and may overgrow nearby corals if not managed
Placement: Best placed on isolated rock islands or stable reef structures where colonies can expand freely under consistent lighting and flow conditions
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
