Goby Transparent Cave – Trimma sp. (Transparent Cave Goby)

The Transparent Cave Goby features a glasslike, translucent body with subtle iridescent highlights along the head and dorsal ridge, giving it an ethereal appearance in reef lighting. This tiny, peaceful goby spends most of its time hovering near rock crevices, displaying calm hovering behavior and quick darting movements when startled. Its shy but curious nature makes it a fascinating micro-reef inhabitant and a great choice for hobbyists who appreciate small, “cryptic” fish.

This species thrives in stable, mature reef aquariums with plenty of caves, overhangs, and porous rock where it can perch and retreat. Add it once the tank has established microfauna and stable parameters—typically several months into maturity. A minimum tank size of 10 gallons is recommended, making it ideal for nano systems.

The Transparent Cave Goby accepts small, meaty foods from San Francisco, Hikari, PE, TDO, and New Life Spectrum, especially finely sized pellets and micro-zooplankton offerings.
