Fire Shrimp — Lysmata debelius

The Lysmata debelius Fire Shrimp is a striking reef invertebrate with a vivid red body adorned with small white spots and long, elegant white antennae. Peaceful and reef-safe, it actively scavenges detritus while also serving as a cleaning shrimp, removing parasites from fish and rock surfaces. Its bold coloration and graceful movements make it a visually stunning and functional addition to reef aquariums.

Fire Shrimp thrive in established reef tanks with stable water parameters, moderate water flow, and plenty of rockwork or crevices for shelter. Introduce only to mature systems to reduce stress and ensure acclimation. A minimum tank size of 20 gallons is recommended to provide adequate space for natural behavior and territory.

Their diet can be supplemented with finely chopped or pellet foods from San Francisco Bay Brand, Hikari, PE, TDO, and New Life Spectrum, alongside natural scavenging of detritus and microfauna. Target feeding supports health, coloration, and active behavior.
