ECC Volcanic War Zoa
Species: Zoanthus sp.
Coral Type: Zoanthus
Physical Description: Volcanic War Zoanthids are striking button polyps known for their fiery coloration, typically featuring bright red to orange centers surrounded by darker rings and contrasting skirts. Each polyp forms a small disk with a fringe of short tentacles, creating the classic zoanthid “flower” appearance. As the colony grows, the polyps spread outward across rock surfaces and frag plugs, forming dense mats of colorful polyps. Under actinic lighting, the intense reds and oranges fluoresce vividly, giving the colony a glowing volcanic appearance.
Coral Type: Zoanthus
Lighting: Moderate (approximately 80–150 PAR)
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate with gentle, indirect flow
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic but may benefit from occasional broadcast feeding of fine particulate foods such as reef roids or phytoplankton.
Aggression: Low; generally peaceful and suitable for mixed reef aquariums.
Substrate: Best placed on rockwork, frag plugs, or isolated zoanthid garden islands where the colony can expand naturally.
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health.
