Species: Fungia sp.
Coral Type: Plate Coral (LPS)
Physical Description: Neon Green Helmet Fungia corals are stunning free-living plate corals celebrated for their intense fluorescent green coloration and rounded helmet-like growth form. Their broad fleshy disk features radiating skeletal ridges covered in vibrant neon tissue that glows brilliantly under actinic and blue-spectrum lighting. Many specimens display contrasting oral regions or subtle hints of yellow and teal, adding extra depth to their appearance. As a solitary LPS coral, the Fungia expands significantly during the day, showcasing its inflated tissue and shimmering fluorescent tones while resting freely on the substrate.
Coral Type: Plate Coral (LPS)
Lighting: Moderate to High (approximately 100–200 PAR)
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate with gentle, indirect flow to allow full tissue expansion without stress
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic but benefits from occasional target feeding of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, reef roids, or finely chopped seafood.
Aggression: Moderate; may extend feeder tentacles at night and should be provided with adequate spacing from nearby corals.
Substrate: Best placed on sandy substrate or smooth low rockwork where the coral can rest comfortably and expand naturally without risk of tissue abrasion.
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
