Species: Montipora sp.
Coral Type: SPS Coral (Small Polyp Stony)
Physical Description: Hellfire Montipora is a high-energy SPS coral known for its intense coloration and fiery encrusting growth pattern. It typically features a deep red to molten orange base that appears almost ember-like, overlaid with contrasting neon highlights in yellow, green, or bright orange depending on lighting conditions. The surface is covered in tightly packed polyps that create a fine, textured finish, giving the colony a glowing, heat-radiating appearance. As it grows, it encrusts rapidly over rockwork and can develop plating edges that enhance its layered, flame-like visual effect. Under actinic and blue-spectrum lighting, the fluorescent pigments intensify dramatically, making the coral appear as though it is burning from within.
Coral Type: SPS (Small Polyp Stony)
Lighting: High (approximately 200–350 PAR)
Flow Rate: Moderate to High with strong, random turbulent flow to support growth and prevent detritus buildup
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic but benefits from occasional dosing of amino acids, trace elements, and fine SPS coral foods
Aggression: Low; non-aggressive but encrusts over available rock surfaces as it grows
Substrate: Best placed on stable live rock in high-light, high-flow zones where it can safely encrust and expand
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
