Species: Zoanthus sp.
Coral Type: Zoanthus
Physical Description: Black Bella Zoanthids are captivating button polyps known for their deep, dramatic coloration and bold contrast. Each polyp typically features a dark black to deep charcoal center accented by subtle metallic undertones and surrounded by contrasting skirts that may display hints of silver, gray, or muted purple under varying lighting conditions. Under actinic and blue-spectrum lighting, the colony develops an intense glowing appearance that highlights the unique depth of its darker tones. As the colony matures, the polyps spread across rockwork and frag plugs, forming dense mats of striking, high-contrast polyps that stand out beautifully in mixed reef aquariums.
Coral Type: Zoanthus
Lighting: Moderate (approximately 80–150 PAR)
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate with gentle, indirect flow
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic but may benefit from occasional broadcast feeding of fine particulate foods such as reef roids or phytoplankton.
Aggression: Low; generally peaceful and well-suited for mixed reef aquariums.
Substrate: Best placed on rockwork, frag plugs, or isolated zoanthid garden islands where the colony can spread and grow naturally.
