Citron Clown Goby - Gobiodon citrinus
The Citron Clown Goby is a small, vibrant reef fish featuring a bright lemon-yellow to greenish body and a compact, rounded profile. Reaching an adult size of approximately 1.5 inches, this species is known for its calm temperament and tendency to perch motionless on coral branches or rock surfaces. Citron Clown Gobies are generally peaceful but may nip at SPS coral polyps when selecting perching sites. Their tiny size and bold coloration make them a popular nano reef addition.
The Citron Clown Goby thrives in well-established reef aquariums with abundant live rock and coral structures for perching and shelter. A minimum tank size of 10 gallons is recommended for a single specimen, though larger nano reef systems are ideal for maintaining stability. This species should be added early in the stocking process to ensure it can establish a secure territory without competition.
As a micro-carnivore, the Citron Clown Goby requires small, nutrient-dense foods that it can easily consume in the water column. Offer PE Cyclopods, Hikari Rotifers, finely crushed PE Mysis, and small marine pellets such as New Life Spectrum Marine Formula or TDO ChromaBoost to support health and coloration.
