Chestnut Turbo Snail – Turbo castanea

Description:
The Chestnut Turbo Snail is a robust, attractive algae grazer known for its glossy, chestnut-brown shell with natural banding. Adults typically reach 1–1.5 inches, making them an ideal size for reef tanks of many scales. Peaceful and steady, they spend their days grazing on rockwork and glass, helping keep nuisance algae in check. Their hardy nature and efficient grazing make them a favorite among hobbyist reefers looking to bolster their cleanup crew.

Tank Requirements:
Perfect for established reef aquariums, these snails thrive in systems with plenty of live rock and natural algal growth. Add them after the tank has stabilized for at least 1–2 months, with a minimum tank size of 10 gallons. Ensure stable parameters and ample surfaces for grazing.

Diet:
Chestnut Turbo Snails are herbivores that feed primarily on algae. Supplement their natural diet with Hikari Spirulina Brine Shrimp, Ocean Nutrition Formula 2 (Frozen or Pellets), San Francisco Bay Brand Spirulina Mysis Shrimp, or New Life Spectrum Algae Pellets, and always offer Julian Sprung’s Sea Veggies in an algae clip.

Approximate Product Size:
~ 0.75–1 inch
