Bubble Tip Anemone – Entacmaea quadricolor

The Bubble Tip Anemone is a striking cnidarian prized for its vivid coloration and signature bulb-tipped tentacles that form under high lighting. When hungry, it extends long sweeper tentacles to capture passing food, then returns to a compact, bulbous shape after feeding. While coloration can vary wildly within this species, this specific product is a classic watermelon green. Peaceful toward most fish but capable of stinging nearby corals, it adds motion, beauty, and natural hosting behavior to reef aquariums.

Bubble Tip Anemones thrive in established aquariums of 30 gallons or larger with deeply creviced live rock where they can anchor their foot securely. They often move until they find a preferred location, so ensure stable lighting and flow before introduction.  When adding, keep wavemakers off for up to an hour to prevent the anemone from getting sucked into it. Add them only after the tank has matured for several months and water parameters are stable.  Be careful adding them to fully established reef tanks with little open space left, as they can potentially damage coral in their search for the perfect spot to live.

These anemones rely heavily on medium to high lighting and benefit from supplemental feedings if a host clownfish is not present. Offer PE Mysis Shrimp, finely chopped Silversides, or other prepared, meaty foods like LRS Reef Frenzy.
