The Blue Throat Triggerfish is a striking and reef-compatible trigger species, with males displaying a shimmering silver-blue body, bright blue throat patch, and yellow-accented fins, while females remain more subdued in coloration. Growing up to 9–10 inches, this species is known for its relatively peaceful temperament compared to other triggers. Active and constantly on the move, it occupies the water column rather than the substrate, making it less likely to disturb aquascaping or corals. While generally reef safe, it may occasionally prey on very small ornamental invertebrates.

Blue Throat Triggerfish do best in established aquariums with plenty of open swimming space and stable water conditions. They should be added after more timid tankmates but before highly aggressive species to minimize territorial disputes. A minimum tank size of 125 gallons is recommended to accommodate their active swimming behavior and adult size.

Their diet should consist of a varied mix of high-quality frozen foods such as PE Mysis and Hikari Brine Shrimp, along with meaty preparations to satisfy their carnivorous nature. Supplement with pellet foods like New Life Spectrum Marine Formula or TDO Chromaboost to ensure balanced nutrition and vibrant coloration.
