Arrow Crab — Staponectes spp. / Stenorhynchus spp.

The Arrow Crab is a striking reef-safe invertebrate with long, spindly legs and a triangular body, giving it a unique, arrow-like appearance. Peaceful and active, it spends its time scavenging detritus, leftover food, and small invertebrates, helping maintain a clean tank while adding fascinating movement and behavior for hobbyists. Its delicate form and purposeful movements make it a visually appealing and functional addition to reef aquariums.

Arrow Crabs thrive in established reef tanks with stable water parameters, moderate flow, and plenty of rockwork or crevices for shelter. Introduce only to mature systems to reduce stress and ensure adequate food availability. A minimum tank size of 20 gallons is recommended, with larger tanks preferred for multiple individuals or diverse reef setups.

Their diet can be supplemented with finely chopped or pellet foods from San Francisco Bay Brand, Hikari, PE, TDO, and New Life Spectrum, alongside natural scavenging. Target feeding encourages active behavior, healthy growth, and substrate cleaning activity.
